About me
I spent the last 3.5 years working as a software engineer at Meta on the Instagram Insights team.I had an intimate view of (and a direct hand in) the system that churns the algorithm forward from an interesting vantage point: metrics. I saw in real-time how passive and active changes to creator incentives caused behavioral changes that rippled across the entire network, and how those dynamics affected both the company's revenue and health of the ecosystem.
Earlier this year I quit my job to take some time off, unplug, and get back to my academic roots before a self-studied career transition to quantitative research. The intention was to engage in what I am calling a research sabbatical: an active break from work centered around learning through formally informal research. My medium of choice being speed typing acoustics.
The research is still very much a work in progress, but I've written a white paper to summarize the major insights. After 3 months of looking at waveforms, I have decided to put things on pause—for now.

HobbyI've been competitively speed-typing since 2013. Here's what I've learned along the way.
